■ Department Goals                  

The department was established to create professional experts specialized in
computer aided media design, capable of contributing their expertise to the relevant
industries and academic fields. We aim to implement the governments target to
further the development of digital content in Taiwan and to meet the ever-changing
demands of the creative industries. 

 

■ Teaching Objectives

Our department’s objective is to develop students’ creativity and skills in the field of
computer aided media design.
 
We promote our students’ cultural literacy through the arts, nurturing their
enthusiasm to help and serve society and its people.
 
 

■ Features of the Programs

We emphasize free, creative, and individual development of our students. The
professional curriculum allows for specialization in two creative disciplines: Digital
Graphic Design and Digital Film and Television Production.
 
Students are free to choose their major and establish their own field of expertise.

 

■ Professional Development

All students in the bachelors’ program at our department are required to complete
32 credits from the elective courses before they can start their Graduation Project,
which is valued 10 credits.

 

Major in Digital Design

Courses include character design, CI and type design, praxis-orientated training in
design, user interface design, advertising and graphic design, packaging design etc.

 

 Major in Digital Film and Television Production

Courses include advanced screenwriting, directing and acting, cinematography, and
visual narrative, video and audio editing, etc.

 

■ Curriculum Overview 

Courses provided encompass color science, introduction to photography and
graphic design, introduction to computer-based applications, introduction to design,
design sketches, introduction to editing, creative thinking and computer graphics design.
 
The second-year program focuses on exploratory training and developing students’
main interest and major. Courses include communication design, computer graphics
design, expression and communication, screenwriting, media design, storyboard,
digital video production, webpage programming and production.
 
The third-year program emphasizes establishing students’ personal characteristics.
They can chose from various elective professional courses in multimedia production,
directing, post-production and special effects, packaging design etc.
 
The fourth-year program focuses on inspiring students’ creativity and performances.
Courses offered include graduation work production, experimental film production,
design, and demonstrative artwork portfolio, marketing for creative industries etc.

■ Students’ Expertise 

Aesthetics and Creativity students will obtain an understanding of aesthetics and creativity in the visual arts. 
Visual Design students will develop the skill to plan and produce digital multimedia visual design.  
Image Ideas students will learn how to plan, develop and create digital images.  
Media Interaction

students will receive training in logical thinking and interactive design.

Leadership and Communication students will be educated to lead and communicate within a team. 
Ethical Responsibility students will acquire an understanding of professional ethics and social responsibilities. 
International Perspective students will gain a broad international perspective. 
Lifelong Learning students will obtain the ability to learn on their own, to analyze, and to solve problems.

■ Future Careers

Major in Digital Design Graphic designer, advertising designer, project planner, web designer, sales and marketing specialist, event planner, multimedia producer, interactive programmer, digital games designer, e-learning programmer, mobile app designer, internet services programmer, digital publishing archivist digital content development specialist etc.

in Digital Films and Television
Digital film and television producer, filmmaker, film editor, film director, special effects and post-production specialist, advertising producer, film producer, computer animator, digital video and audio applications designer, video content development specialist etc.
Major in Arts

Arts administrator, illustrator, designer, marketing for arts specialist, art director, art creation specialist etc.

of professional and technical performance, and develop their personal styles.

■ Students’ Academic Performances and Activities

Every year our students participate in national and international competitions with
outstanding results. These competitions include graphic design, product design,
packaging design, web design, spatial design, animation, advertising, photography,
film, puppet and doll production, etc.
 
※ Out of all participating institutions, students from our department have won the
majority of prizes at the annual “Vision Gets Wild” competition held by the Ministry
of Economy and the” Campus Creation Competition” held by the Foundation of
History City Conservation and Regeneration.
 
On average, our students complete 50 art and design productions per semester,
each of them going on display at national competitions. This is a solid evidence for
the quality of education provided at the Department of Computer Aided Media Design.
 
In 2012 alone, our students won 10 gold, silver, and bronze awards at national design
competitions; seven of their works were awarded prizes for excellent individual
achievement and design; more than 14 works were chosen as finalists.
 
Over the years, our department has produced up to a hundred pieces of
award-winning work. The history of our department is a history of success.
